+ a form of être

+ a past participle of a reflexive verb

The second part is vocabulary. This unit test has a particular large number of questions requiring that you not vocabulary and the gender for each word.

Be prepared to speak in French the entire period. We will be in a virtual French Market for the day. You will go from shop to shop purchasing items in French which you would like to eat or drink Then you will sit and converse in French with your group. Each group member should take turns selling so others can shop until all have had a chance to sell and buy. (30 points)

In this excercise you could find your verb  conjugation cards very helpful. Use the correct form of the verb to correspond with eachsubject.

EXERCISE 4. This exercise is practing the articles we learned on page 168, 170, 178 and 179. You should have a note card with notes that would make this exercise much easier. Remember du, de la, des and de l’ change to de or d’ in a negative sentence.

Verbs like aimer, adorer, detester will require le, la, les or l’.

When you would like to say some you use- du, de la, des, de l’.

Answer the questions in exercise 2 on page 99 in complete sentences in French.

Make sure you’re keeping your flashcards up to date.  Review them every night this week since our quiz on February 6 is over verbs. I will check flashcards and binders this coming weekend. On page 94 you’ll use

de la if the noun following is feminine

du if the noun following is masculine

de l’ if the noun following starts with a vowell

If your group has not turned in your price/label/quantities label and mural that was due on the 29th it should be turned in on Monday, February 2nd.

Also remember to study for vocabulary quiz 3 which will be taken at the beginning of class on Tuesday January 27.  Remember to write the words once in English and 10 times in French if this helps you!

Also, finish page 187 exercises 1 & 2 if you did not already do so in class today. This is practice changing the indefinite articles to de or d’ after expressions of quantities like a kilo, pound, package etc.

Then Write each group of sentences in french but in the correct logical sequence.

A. A diner with friends is written in the below order

It should of been in the following order.

1. My friend(m) did the shopping.

2. My friend(f) made/prepared the dinner.

3. We ate dinner.

4. I did the dishes.

Make sure you write in the past following the structure:

Subject   +     Helping Verb + Past Participle

If the sentence is negative the ne and pas go around the helping verb:

Subject + ne + Helping Verb + Past Participle

J’ai choisi la tarte au chocolat comme dessert.

(Remember the special group of verbs that will use a form of etre for the helping verb instead of avoir)

For example:

Nous sommes alles chez mes grandparents.

Je suis allee chez ma mere. J’ai mange la dinde. J’ai ete a cote de mon neveu. Il s’appelle Josh. Il a mange beacoup de dessert. J’ai mange une tranche de tarte de pomme. C’etait delicieuse! etc.

Powerpoints due in two weeks! Hopefully the 2 periods of class time helped. I’m quite impressed with all of you who used your class time so well and already completed this project.

Remember to work on your powerpoints. The powerpoints complete with oral recordings for each page are due on December 10th. DO NOT TRY TO RECORD USING VOICETHREAD.COM. The program is expensive and you can only save your project on line and that is extremely dangerous due to the nature of this project.

· Have students turn to page page 110 & 111-Review the information in the green boxes. They also should refer to their notes they took on the construction of the past tense.

· On Page 111 for exercise 2– They should write a question and answer in the past. They will begin with the correct form of avoir + a hyphen + the subject pronoun + the past participle and a question mark.

        The sample in the photo box says Have you invited our friends? The answer is the subject pronoun + a   form of avoir + a past participle and means. Yes, I have invited our friends.

· Then explain how to do page 112: exercise 3-In the blue box on the left is the beginning of each sentence. The yellow box has the content for each sentence. All sentences will be in the past tense which means they will write the subject/ then a form of the verb to have/avoir and then a past participle as explained on page 111.

       The first few sentences will be written about Claire’s day as the sample incicates: Saturday morning Claire cleaned her room. Saturday afternoon, The next sentence would be She waited fro a friend. Then the next sentence would say she attended a concert with her.

    Then they should use the subject Ils to talk about what Paul and Vincent did in the pink boxes. Then they will use Nous as the subject to begin the sentences with information from the green boxes. Then they will use vous as the subject to write the information contained in the purple boxes.

· Then explain how to do the homework on page 113.

       For exercise 5 on page 113, they will write a question and and answer for each of the 12 verbs listed. Remind students that end the negative they put n’ before the form of avoir and then write pas and then the past participle.

Subject + n’ + form of avoir + pas + past participle.

The example says to play basketball. They should ask- Tu as joué au basket? Then they answer with Oui, j’ai joué au basket or Non, je n’ai pas joué au basket.

Then explain how to do exercise 6 on Page 113.

    For exercise 6 on page 113 students should wite a logical answer in the past using verbs listed in the yellow box to the write. The example says. Francis did not have her racket. A logical response is, She did not play tennis. Again these will be the subject + n’ + a form of avoir + pas + a past participle.

Sorry for the change to our original schedule. The change of date is a result of the availability of our technology facilitator to attend class on Friday to help us with recording our voices on our powerpoints. We will have Unit 2 quiz number two as indicated on your vocabulary sheet. This quiz is over numbers 1-13 in the Quiz 2 section. Remember to write the words 5 times each, make flashcards or take a practice quiz at home to review the night before the quiz.

 By December 10th you need to have a recording of your voice for each page of your powerpoint.

Je vais prendre (You decide what direction you want to take on a particular line and write the name of the stop at the end of the line you’re taking)

Je vais monter (you will write the name of the stop you begin at)

Je vais descendre (you then write the name of the stop you will get off at)
